Re: Being an artist online/Artists, how have you been faring right now?

most of my art is fanart, which unfortunately does kind of tie me to larger social media threads. i don't use instagram and tiktok at all, but i do use twitter and tumblr. the twitter algorithm is not a fan of me; once i had a piece pop off and get a couple thousand likes and retweets, but i got lik...

Re: Books, libraries, reading!

i've been pushing through crime and punishment the past 2 years, mostly. i like it, it's just dense . other books i've been reading alongside that atm are to the lighthouse, moby-dick, and the last unicorn! i really loved annihilation's movie so comparing it to the book was pretty fun. unfortunately...

Re: thoughts on video game piracy?

i didn't get to grow up with silent hill but i always wanted to play them. but horror games, at least for me, and especially old ones, aren't really the sort of games where you can get away with just watching someone else play them. keeping it vague, in 2021 i finally played silent hill 1-3 and now ...

Re: Linux/FOSS/Self-Hosting General

i'm a linux newbie so I've just got mint cinnamon on an old laptop of mine but honestly i really like it so i'll likely stick with it. i like to check out people's rices on r/unixporn and even though i'm not a software engineer nor do i need something like ricing for my particular workflow the allur...

Re: What's the latest video game you bought?

not the latest one i bought but i've been playing ULTRAKILL a lot the past week and a half...it rules; if you like DOOM and devil may cry, this should be right up your ally. the music is really good too. fun stuff, very satisfying to play. the amount of assist controls are really nice too if, like m...

Re: Obligatory Desktop thread!

these are all super cool! my main PC runs windows 11 (booooo) so the desktop is a little boring but i quite like the desktop that i have on my laptop that i have set up with linux mint so i may come back in and add a screenshot of that one too. my wallpaper is a little obvious given my name but what...

Re: Thoughts on older music players?

i use spotify pretty much every day but this year i'm trying to be more intentional about music for similar reasons people described -- treating it like an artistic experience over a commodity, not being as obsessed with "vibe" hunting (or if i am trying to make a "vibe", being v...

Re: What are your favorite video games?

it's hard to pick a few but i'll give it a go...my all-time favorite is the visual novel umineko no naku koro ni, which is basically a murder mystery about a rich family getting picked off by someone claiming to be a witch named beatrice. it's very good, my favorite story of all time, and i really r...

Re: Berserk being revived by Miura's close friend and assistants

i'm a little apprehensive (as i think is pretty normal in these sorts of situations) but i've got high hopes regardless and i trust them to at least bring what miura wanted to bring to us to the page. excited to see whatever happens! i agree though, i feel like the last chapter that came out will al...

Re: People who went to live @ college; how did you decide what to bring?

for a dorm room i would recommend only bringing one or two smaller size plushies since you aren't really going to have anywhere to put them except for on your bed and maybe on your desk; using posters and prints and stuff is probably a better way to show your love for these things than trying to wre...

Re: I have been eyeing down a watercolor set for months now

i have the winsor & newton travel pack with i think 12 colors and as someone who doesn't watercolor all that often, i really recommend them! especially since they come in a half pan so it's easy to reactivate them and you don't have to worry about them drying out or anything. i think i got mine ...
