Re: DO NOT Bypass paywalls
can't say i agree the internet should be a place for free, accessible resources, in my head, and paywalls restrict that. similar to suggesting that we shouldnt be creating open-source alternatives to proprietary or paid software; in my head things should be open-source by default and then folks can ...

Re: How to download Neocities site using CLI?
Well, that uses WebDAV, which from experience is painfully slow. I was shown a tool that works through CLI like youtube-dl. EDIT: I think I found it: https://vincentsdungeon.com/posts/Rclone%20and%20You.html Once you're done, if you're happy using the command line, it might be worth using git to co...

Re: let's talk about the tech industry
yeah, i know plenty of folks in the tech industry that love their jobs. you're making a pretty big generalisation, what experience do you have where this is true? /gq equally, depression isn't as clear cut as liking or disliking your job; or anything else, for that matter. if it were, it'd be super ...

Re: how many email accounts do you have?
I have one master inbox, and then a plethora of addresses that all forward solely there.
Makes privacy a lot easier, from my experience, when you can create individual addresses for signing up to sites and immediately cancel them when they're shared or compromised.

Re: Shit thst makes me you mad: its a MAD WORLD!!
the muppets. the only one i like is miss piggy she's a g. everyone else is annoying. my advice for dealing with it is to stay away from everything muppet related. esp those stupid youtube music videos with them butchering songs (except for miss piggy she's great) I have something that will make you...

Re: Thoughts on older music players?
the inherent ephemerality of streaming also eventually made me quit using it. songs/albums i really loved would just vanish off of the platform overnight or be replaced with a completely different mastering. my music library wasn't mine , it was just what spotify allowed me to listen to in that mom...

Re: Past friends of the internet
A lot of people have nice memories but I have a traumadump lmao. my first real online friend i probably watched turn into a nazi. he got really into "world war 2 history" and changed his display name to one of the nazi purges. he didn't ever start calling himself a nazi or anything, but i...
