The Great Employment Wipeout

Post by mrwillhorlen »

say now that there will be a new AI system that can automate white-collar jobs way more efficiently than any human worker could. I'm sure that companies and governmental entities would adopt them in no time, and could even lay off their entire workforce if they want to. in the end they are just expendables, and they cared more about minimizing the cost of operating and maximizing profit. are we prepared for that?

That is unless we start protesting and demand companies to be Employee owned, unionized or nationalized. But that may depend on Labor laws in your state on how they respond to automating White Collar Jobs via unionization. But that will be a long term goal here

Currently things like ChatGPT aren't giving quality answers consistently, they may look good but once you start to read them they often don't make sense. Another issue I see is that without human employees, things will grind to a halt if something happens with the AI because no computer system is 100% reliable.
Good Point its something we need to think about for the next 10-15 years.
