Over time, the internet becomes boring when you're often in non corporations web places. At least for me. Yesterweb helped me get rid of addiction and I am looking for inspiration what you like to do during offline times. :)

Come to think of it now, there's not a lot of things i do that dont also extend into the computer. I like to draw on paper, usually carry around a little sketchbook and a few pens... or i like to play instruments... but i will also draw on the ipad, i'll scan the paper drawings, i'll edit my music in a DAW, etc. I suppose it's just a toolset i'm familiar with and easily fall into?

The most "offline" hobby of mine is i like to (get high and) explore; spent a lot of money on a good bike that can go offroad, and then i usually just make a day out of pointing it in some cardinal direction and seeing where i end up.

Hmm, that's difficult... maybe my junk journal/scrap book. It's so fun gluing bits and bobs into my little journal to look back on later. :D

Is building mech keyboards considered non-digital? Def one of my faves. Fountain pens too - I like testing different inks a lot. Just scribbling random stuff on nice quality paper can be a relaxing activity, especially in the summer at the beach. Ummm what else... coffee? It's a nice and chill hobby and I am trying to "enjoy the journey" if you will. Atm I am very tempted to drop $$$$ on endgame espresso equipment lol, gotta hold back!

Reading, guitar and miniatures (Warhammer, model cars, historical planes) for me.

But, the culture of those hobbies is so entrenched in online spaces that its very hard to disconnect from the online world of them and actually learn them offline. For example, when I started playing guitar one of the largest sections of the music store was song books. Now, they are almost non-existent. I also remember magazines for Warhammer, and table top games in general, having really neat painting tutorials.

Everything is now online that you would want to know about them, which is not a bad thing. Though its cathartic sometimes to just sit somewhere with something and really dig your claws into it without having the stress of a precise guide.

I think my only completely non-digital hobby is outdoor stuff like cross-country skiing and hiking. I have two dogs and spend a lot of time mucking about in the woods with them.

If you feel you spend too much time looking at screens I highly recommend taking up some kind of outdoor sport or practice. Doesn't have to be extravagant, maybe just put on comfy shoes and go for long walks, see where you end up. :)

I make bracelets/'kandi', it's my main thing to do when I don't wanna look at a screen. Reading and drawing are fun too, but I personally lack that sort of patience nowadays and often find it easier to find ebooks/draw with my tablet than do anything on paper. Kandi making can only be done with my own two hands >:)

I like brewing beer.

We have a local brewery for home brewers to use their equipment and brew 40-litre batches at a time.

The best thing about this is that they provide the equipment and clean up.

I return two weeks later to bottle, and then it's only 2-3 weeks of conditioning, and it's ready to drink.

Have you ever gone on any trans-scenic train journeys? We have a couple here that go up and down, or across the country and have viewing decks for passing through the lakes or alps.

Looking forward to a few trips in the future with my son.

Dogs are a great reason to get out of the house and outside. Mine are getting on in age, so we don't spend as much time as we used to walking around the hills.

I really love stargazing, tabletop roleplaying, playing music, reading, writing in my notebook, lots of stuff really. It's very easy to fall into the trap of mindless browsing with the ubiquity of the internet now, though.

i have a few

customizing/refreshing dolls

Image Image Image
i have alot of old dolls ive been cleaning up and making outfits for. they were dirty because they were very well loved (and we played "hungergames" with them outside Image). ive dabbled in customization before but i dont have any dolls to expirement on atm.

Minatures
Ive always been super into doll play sets... so ive found i really enjoy making and looking at minatures. you can buy sets pretty cheap (this christmas gift ive been working on is a $9 from hobby lobby)! and learn skills to start making your own one day.
Image

cooking/baking
cooking is so rewarding and it doesnt have to be exspensive. Plus, you get yummy and (sometimes) healthy food! And it makes me my familys favorite daughter for a day. Image
Image Image

Exploring nature and ecosystem jars
nature is one of those things where you forget how nice it is until your out in it. if you dont have any good nature in your backyard, you can go to parks, forests, lakes, etc. ive been wanting to make an ecosystem jar as well, but havent yet. heres a cool channel on them. https://www.youtube.com/@LifeinJars

this is pretty long.. it is fun to talk about ur hobbies though lol. my #1 rule when starting new hobbies is start with only what you have right now at home or at the dollarstore. if u enjoy it, then go out and buy stuff. you can usually make do with what you already have, or by buying the bare minumum.

Sadly not!! At most I've taken a train to a different city- wasn't all that special cuz it was all just farm land haha. Still def very cool tho! I'm sure eventually I'll take a train somewhere cooler- and when I do i'll be hyped lol.

This is a very fun one & an easy way to kidnap yourself some windowsill friends you'll never have to take care of!!! lol they're REALLY fascinating, and once I have a place of my own it's absolutely something I want to do. It's free ecosystems, baby!!!

At the moment, I LOVE growing plants. I find keeping houseplants/succulents as easy as kinda boring? And I've found my passion is growing spices and foods, even if really small quantities. Lettuce grows even in small container and is so fast! Dandelion is edible! You can grow mushrooms with premade kits & they grow a little bit every day if you mist them!! <3<3 every day something new is going on in my vases. And you can learn so much about native plants (and the critters that inhabit them) and recognize them all around you. It's my n.1 offline hobby. And if you have a sunny windowsill, you can definitely do it too.

I also like to draw (although that has become very much digital lately), and find playing with polymer clay and embroidery pretty fun & relaxing. If you are in an area that allows it, just going for long walks is really good, too. Clears your mind, tires your body. If I had a car, I'd go hiking probably.

yoga and meditation... they let me clear my mind and body and make me feel more present in the real world

on a similar note, literally just playing with my dogs. i forget to do it a lot, but it's so fun when i do

finally, sitting and listening to music with no distractions. i guess not digital, but it's not looking at a screen. it also wasn't on the internet when i used cds as my main form of listening, but i've fallen back into the streaming hole in the last few months

oh- i'd like to get more into art, but it's like a whole other world! like, i don't even know where to start. maybe i'll figure it out someday

Thinking about how all of my hobbies are digital in some way, hahaha. Closest thing to a non-digital one would be, going on walks when it's warm outside and spotting wild animals - squirrels, foxes, feral cats. I used to love going outside and exploring when I was younger, although living in the suburbs meant that actually qualified as "trespassing" so I stopped that when I became an adult (to avoid prosecution lmao).

I've been trying to learn digital painting (even though art is, like another poster said, a completely new world for me) and it makes me glad that this is an option for people who don't want to (or aren't able to) buy actual art supplies. Plus think of all of the supplies I would waste in my early mistakes learning how to do things. Also physical supplies take up physical space, and that's not always practical.

I think I've always had an over-reliance on digital hobbies for that very reason. Maybe not when I was super young, because I didn't have a PC but especially during my teens, all of the "fun" I got to participate in was basically finding ways to have fun, for free, online.

When I want to do some digital hobby but still have some relief away from the noisy internet, I just close all of the programs on my computer to simulate an ~offline~ experience. Hopefuly once I have the opportunity to move somewhere less geographically isolated and suburban, my offline non-digital hobbies will expand :P

Yeeah! It's a nice break, just waiting about for a while. And then you get to see a train, hopefully. Win/win!

There's just three types of trains here, i play this little game with myself where i try to guess which type it is by the sound. I'm pretty sure for one of them, but the other two i get mixed up a lot.

(Hehe, thank you! It's meant to signify the joy of trespassing.)

Same here. 3 different trains- I especially love seeing the passenger ones, though. I always love looking at the people inside and wonder whats going inside their lives, haha. Especially at night it feels extra dramatic, lol.

Crocheting is SOOO fun. I picked it up during remote learning and it's super relaxing. I made my first projects (mostly scarfs) while watching Game of Thrones with my family, there are opportunities to do charity with it, and it just makes me feel accomplished to make something out of simple yarn strings.

It can be a killer on the hands though, I take frequent breaks to give my wrists and fingers a break. It can also kill your wallet, but that's what yarn sales are for!

and family and friends for gift season but shhh you didn't hear it from me

I really like finding IRL fan spaces for things! Like, I have a pretty massive group of online kpop buddies, but I specifically seek out in person events too :D We've got a pretty active community for my favourite group where I live, it's awesome. I also like to thrift!

Baking from scratch is one of my favorite ways to kill time, but I do rely on the internet to find recipes... sometimes, if I buy the box mixes, I try the recipes listed on the back, but a lot of them are way too sugary, even for my sweet tooth.

I also love building LEGO sets but it's a very, verrrry expensive hobby. I only buy 2 or 3 sets a year. Jigsaw puzzles are fun too, but they’re kinda hard on my neck, looming over the table like that. I’ve lost an embarrassing number of puzzle pieces to the vacuum/dog/other floor hazards.

And board games! My family goes crazy for Scrabble and Monopoly. And we have a chessboard but I’m horrendously bad.

Hmm, I think reading is my favorite- that and making music. I play piano, but a lot of times use a computer to actually make the music I record.

I'm going to try to start gardening this Spring and I've been reading up on some Permaculture techniques.

I made a goal that I would learn something new that can be applied to the real world every week this year and I'm starting with vegan permaculture. We'll see how that goes haha.

I think a good idea is just to think about life without the internet and what you would want to do in that world.

I really enjoy cooking and baking. Nothing I make is particularly fancy (especially if it's from scratch :stare:), but I try my best to make it all taste good. :)

omg so much... but i think my main 2 would be antiquing and sewing! i like to sew by hand, mostly because my 3 sewing machines are... very cursed ;v; but also hand sewing is really therapeutic i think! and a lot easier in my opinion. there are really only 4 stitches you'll need for every project, and every other stitch is just one of those base 4 at another angle, from a different side, at a different length, for a different purpose... but the threads going the same way really :)

i like to collect pretty much anything old, but mostly things i can wear (especially if it's something i can't sew, shoes + jewellery + silk scarves especially) and read. i have so many old books and i love them! if you like to read but there's not a bookclub around you that fits your interests, it is kind of cosy to see what somebody decades ago felt reading the same book as you. especially if you two share a thought! ...plus, most antique stores and bookshops seem to get no service, so that's a great motivator for me to not look up something and just start a chat with the owner :)

logic puzzles!! granted, i usually do them on my computer, but the site i use does have the option to print them, so every once in a while i'll take a few masyu or hashi puzzles with me when i'm going somewhere where i might have free time! :)

(oh, and this extends to the usual stuff, too! sudoku and crosswords are always fun as well ^^)

I have been doing film photography for quite some time now! It's the most wonderful hobby to make you apreciate and look for beautiful spots. Cameras are so incredibly cheap - the film and processing isn't - but it's the most rewarding hobby to me. The mystery of not having a preview, anticipating the results, screening everything ... I absolutely love it. It also barely gives you performance angst and there is no personal standard that I try to achieve, and I think that is very relieving compared to digital hobbies where results are immediate.

oh yeah!! and the anticipation when you receive the deveoped prints..! it's like unwrapping a gift. like oh yeah, we went to this place! and this other shot came out soo good! and maybe a lot of mine don't, but that first look is still great.
