DIY: Browser based services
I've realized a lot of smaller tasks are done through a web browser instead of manually because the average user doesn't know they can do it just as easily with their own computer. For example, I've seen a site with the purpose of sorting lines of text alphabetically. We have the classic format converting sites and lighter photo editing tools and so on. Many of these things are easy and free to do manually with the added bonus that we don't provide the sites with our personal information or rights to the thing we're making (which I'm pretty sure is the goal for them if they're not charging us for the service).
Therefore, I was wondering: what kind of things do you let your browser do for you? What sites are you using for different tasks that you think you can't manage on your own?
This is not a "lol? you can't even do that?!"-thread, this is me collecting data on what kind of stuff people are shying away from instead of doing themselves. I have somewhat of a project in the making.

Entirely out of laziness, i know there are offline tools:
- base64 encode/decode
- prettify/auto-indent json
- get the current unix timestamp
- download youtube videos

Some things I prefer to do with my browser are:
- Anything and everything PDF editing. Ilovepdf for splitting, joining and converting to different formats. Edge is unironically a more than decent PDF reader and editor (scribbling, highlighting, notes). (Cheating a bit here since it's a browser not a browser service).
- Markdown table formatting! I find WYSIWYG editors sometimes do stuff with spacing.
- In a similar line, Detexify is an absolute lifesaver (for me) when it comes to LaTeX

Re: DIY: Browser based services
tldr i just use them for anything i don't happen to already have a software to do.
off of the top of my head, I would usually use online services for pdf editing (merging and marking them up). I also use them for simple word processing things like lipsum generation (https://lipsum.com) and idk, coding ides on school computers that dont have ones downloaded. I use notepad for simple text stuff but I do use the G Suite pretty often for school and more heavy editing. Libreoffice just feels off. Maybe the text aliasing? G Suite is faster to "boot up" anyways.
Hope this helps ^^
