planned obsolescence
So recently I watched a video from vox talking about how big companies are actively dumbing down their product qualities while also increasing the price, hence making them easier to break down and in turn making customer buy more often. there is also a drop in innovation and many but not limited to tech products seems to have become less exciting and more bland each passing releases (compare the huge jump from the first to second generation iphone to the state it is in now). and the government did absolutely nothing about it, even outright helping them.

Re: planned obsolescence
My Asus EeePC I'm using to type this had battery issues where it would randomly die at 45%. If it lived past then, it would go from 45% to 35% in the span of about 5-8 minutes. Ordered a new battery, took out the old one (which is easily accessible from the outside), slot in the new one, and I have an EeePC that lasts about 5 hours again.
My 2013 MacBook Air was having battery issues as well. I had to remove 8-10 screws to take off the bottom, but once I was in, I just remove the screws holding the old battery in, screw in the new battery, and I've got a MacBook Air that lasts 5 hours again as well.
Now if my Moto G Power had battery issues, I'd have to get out a heat gun, take out the battery that's likely held in with adhesive, put the new battery in, and re-tape the back of the phone back on. A much harder process than just popping off the back and slotting in a new battery.
Modern devices are made to be disposable, and it really shows.

Re: planned obsolescence
I remember this one it is the one where Louis Rossman said stuff about how Apple does stuff like that all because its about planned obsolescence years ago and said that in a CBC segment. Back then "Right To Repair" was a proposed idea but it lead certain fans of certain products get caught up in going after people like Louis Rossman. Also some of this is because companies like Apple and Google are too dependent on Foxconn for their computer parts. Its all about Big Tech Paying off Venture Capitalists. The issue I see is Venture Capitalists and other investment companies putting pressure on Big Tech and consulting them to do things that are ethically compromising all for big payouts to them.
