wanted to make a link-sharing topic like the one about old/out of use websites, but for websites that are slightly strange. no strict definition of "strange", just anything strange to you. anyone know any?
i found a strange site a little while ago - i had to look for pictures of emo hair for a character design i was doing, and ended up in a rabbit hole of sites, only to find a site dedicated to emo culture and had some articles about gambling/slots on them. in this article, it talked about whether cricket (the sport) could be emo, and linked to cricket betting sites. in another one, it talked about ten vampire-themed slots to play online. in a third one, it talks about emotional regulation when betting on sports. articles about actual emo-related stuff seem to be lifted from a blogspot account which published it word-for word ten years earlier. the blogspot also hosts broken links connected to the original domain, which leads me to wonder if it was sold to someone trying to get emo people to gamble, or if the owner became invested in gambling...?

Re: strange websites - share links
Found this one working on my search engine: http://lhohq.info/ (EPILEPSY WARNING, also some nudity). It looks small at a start, but it's pretty difficult to navigate, but it's surprisingly big (see https://search.marginalia.nu/site/lhohq.info ). Dunno if it's an art project or some ARG, but it's definitely strange.
http://godxiliary.com/ is amazing.
http://sod.jodi.org/index.html too.

oh, i know lhohq! it's most likely an art project, stuff on the website has been associated with artists/filmmakers mark escribiano and dmitry myaskovsky (lots of painted nudes on myaskovsky's homepage, if that bothers you), among others. stuff on the site related to the church of the subgenius are also a giveaway.marginalia wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 5:21 am Found this one working on my search engine: http://lhohq.info/ (EPILEPSY WARNING, also some nudity). Yeah I did get subgenius vibes, although I didn't find any "Bob"s so I wasn't sure. It's still a cool website though

Ah, you'd probably have to go down a few more links before getting to the really interesting sites (speaking of which, I found the-eye.eu which seems to have a bunch of random cool stuff for download just recently), this is just one of the best starting places I have. At least since most of the people on this list have pretty in depth knowledge about the seedier sides of the web, they tend to house some pretty cool linkrolls and whatnot. Just be careful (and whatever you do, DON'T click on qorg11.net's guestbook).

This is a fascinating rabbit hole, a website about (and with) hassidic music.
http://www.nigun.info/home.html
http://www.nigun.info/home.html
the site wrote:Words make up the language of our intelligence, while music is the language of the soul. That is why the language of the nigunim is at times more spiritually elevated than words, just as the emunah [the faith] rooted in one's heart ascends the limits of knowledge and rationality.
