[SOLVED] Forum randomly logs me out

I have been having this problem where the forum keeps logging me out. I use multiple devices. My main PC uses Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04, I have a Macbook, an iPad, an Android phone and even a Windows 98 laptop I like to connect to here from!

All of them have the problem with logging me out randomly, even if I tell it to keep me logged in, and when and how often it does it is different every time.

Desktop PCs log me out when I look at a thread, and then click to reply. The Android phone does it every time I leave the site and come back to it later, and the iPad does it every time I try to post something, which makes that one useless!

I suppose it's worth mentioning that I use a VPN, but my Windows 98 laptop doesn't, and that still has an issue keeping me logged in. I will test things as soon as my Internet is back up, currently using mobile data, but figured it's worth bringing it to your attention, anyway.

I wish I had more information to give you, but that's literally all I have.

it happened a few times myself i believe, usually from writing a lengthy response. it doesnt happen as much anymore for me but i dont even bother to keep myself logged in here at this point if it will happen again.

I dove into the settings and found that the "Remember me" option was actually disabled by default. I'm not sure how I missed this, but I changed it to remember your login for 30 days when the "remember me" box is checked upon login.

On top of that, I also extended the default login session length (when "Remember Me" is not checked). It was set to 60 minutes, but it's now a few hours longer than that.

Please let me know if this makes it any better! I noticed I was getting logged out pretty often, but it never happened to me while I was in the middle of doing something That must be really frustrating and I'm really sorry that was the case for some people. Please do let me know if problems persist!

Hey! At the very bottom of the forum, in the footer, there's a link called "Delete cookies". When you click on that it'll probably log you out, (so you'll need to log in once again) but it also might help sync things up the changes I made this morning, if they haven't yet applied to your account.

ah okay, an honest mistake really then. thanks for handling this issue. ill most likely try this out again sometime as i just got used to logging in and out a lot now :p

Seems to work so far on Android. Have no WiFi currently to test the other devices, but will when I do.
