rant about something you care about

Post by amagicmuffin »

I love listening to people rant about things they're passionate about, its so good i dont know why or how to describe it. My xkcd rant follows.

from https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index. ... k_and_Drag, one of my favorite xkcd strips:
The comic garnered "obsessive" attention from viewers on xkcd's forum, with a discussion thread that exceeds 2,500 pages and 100,000 posts
god i'd love to read that. but xkcd's wiki went down permanently because of a security issue ;-; I remember another forum thread I loved to read, "Count as high as you can" where new posts in the thread tried to one-up the previous ones. It was so funny, the op started off with 9000 because "we all know any number above 9000 is incomprehensibly large." The next person posted "the number on Vegeta's power scanner." There were people coming in all smug, doing things like "the number of atoms in the universe times itself a million times >:) " not knowing that had been beaten long before. And it was interesting near the end, seeing how theory-based things were getting. There were so many different styles of large numbers being written. pseduocode, things that looked like proofs, arrow notation, there was this one that was in a hexagonal array-looking thing for some reason.

It must be a testament to something, that I still can look back and remember so much of that thread.

Anyways, here's my other favorite xkcd "strip:" https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/1190:_Time
