Introducing Smartfeed!

Post by Sadness »

I have added a new extension to this forum, called SmartFeed. This lets you add certain elements of this forum to a custom-generated RSS feed.

You should be able to find a link to it beside the "Quick Links" link under the banner.

Smartfeed allows you to generate an RSS feed of only the boards you care about. You can even bookmark the topics you like and then tell it to only include bookmarked topics in your feed. It's pretty cool!

Just click on the link I mentioned above to configure the settings you'd like, and then select the Generate button to generate a link. You can use this in RSS feed readers like FraidyCat.

hey, i just tried using this and it doesn't work ): seems that the rss/atom feed is being served as HTML which means it doesn't work in most readers, even fraidycat. is there a way to fix this?

here's me running a feed i generated with smartfeed through the official rss validator: https://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi ... D3%26w%3D0

Did you choose the setting on the side that shows you the format? Choose RSS. The default is ATOM.

This one works.

ah, that fixed it! thank you! :)

you may want to considering removing the atom setting if it's broken by default, though. or at least making rss 1 or 2.0 the default.

Very cool tool for anyone using a passive RSS reader. (I certainly do.)
