Forum Suggestions & Issues

Post by Sadness »

Hello!

We've received lots of feedback that a slower-paced discussion space was desired... so here is! :surprise:

The number of boards is small, to lighten the load on the moderation team.

Aside from additional boards, what else would you like to see on here? Leave your suggestions or issues below!

A forum I used to be very active on (ttrforums) had a sort of thing on your profile where you and others could post messages directly to peoples profiles/your own profile instead of PMing or making a new thread for things that don't really need a full topic. It's obviously not necessary but would it be possible to add something like that on here? ^^'

I’m liking this forum so far. In fact, I miss the days as a small child lurking around assorted forums and as a teenager participating in one. But I have one thing that concerns me.

The website link below some people’s ‘forum pictures’ would get cut off when I’m using a mobile device. I’m using an iPad as I type this out. Is there a way to change the CSS a little to make it more iPad friendly?

Same thing happens to me, but only really occurs with longer hyperlinks.
The option to just shorten the “display” name of the website would be handy to resolve that issue, too.

Not sure if this is actually a good idea, but another phpBB synth forum i frequent has a dynamic list in the forums section for "newly replied-to threads". It's useful for finding things like a nice discussion about transformers currently taking place in like forum -> general gear -> mixers -> some thread about a specific mixer, where i would've never gone.

Some people complain about it though, i guess it encourages drive-by posting if that's something you're trying to avoid.

I’ve said this in the discord, but the ability to react to posts without making your own post, like reactions on discord!

I did look this up briefly and didn't find anything right away, but I will check again, I agree this sounds like a cool feature!

Yeah this is something I can change for sure! I will work on it! :D

Ohh I see! We have something similar (although it's a little difficult to find, I think you have to click on "Quick Links" and then it gives you like, "Active Topics" and a few other options. Is this basically the same thing or different you think?

Agreed! I have favicons turned off on my browser so I always forget they exist.

I just looked into this and I don't think it's possible atm :? haha a lot of the restrictions are just due to forums being "dead" and a lot of the old extensions not working with the newest version. I do know SOME php but I don't think I could pull this off.

I saw similar things about the "reactions" and the "guestbook". If anything I *might* be able to pull off the profile guestbook thing, if I try really hard (but tbh it's not at the top of my priority list rn heh...) but if anyone knows of any recent extensions with any of these functionalities that work with phpbb 3.3.7, I will def try them out!!

A wonderful idea haha! I didn't expect many people to respond, but I just created a subforum in here for that. I'll close this topic out for now!
